The Work follows a four day group therapy session among incarcerated men at Folsom Prison and men from the outside who are looking for answers to their own issues. The inmates who participate are (outside of the four walls of the room where most of the movie is filmed) members of violent bloodthirsty gangs which exist in the prison community who risk their lives by participating and showing willingness to speak to those from other gangs, let alone by expressing weakness. They truly face life and death consequences. This is verité of the most powerful order.
