Shakespeare High

An exciting and fun journey into the most unlikely of high school competitions: the annual Shakespeare Festival in Southern California. Documentary filmmaker Alex Rotaru follows four school teams, including one made up of former gang members, as they prepare and compete in this tournament, which encourages free and expansive interpretation of The Bard’s classic plays. These kids and their extraordinary imaginations and passion are unforgettable.  The program has created a number of famous alumni, including Val Kilmer, Mare Winningham, and executive producer Kevin Spacey, all of whom appear throughout the film.
